Software that helps your business work better.

I build and improve business software, automate repetitive work, connect systems, and help companies keep the applications they already have.

Independent consultant. You work directly with me.

Background

What I do

How I can help

Most of my work falls into one of these six areas. If your problem doesn't fit neatly, describe it anyway.

Business software

Software for work that's currently handled in spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups, email or paper.

  • Internal systems for staff
  • Customer portals
  • Booking, order and membership systems
  • Approvals, documents and dashboards

Fix and improve existing software

Already have software that's causing problems? I can take it over, fix it and make it easier to look after.

  • Unfinished or abandoned projects
  • Bugs, slow pages and crashes
  • Code nobody wants to touch
  • Hosting that is hard to deploy or costs too much

Connect your systems

If your staff copy information from one system to another, I can usually make the systems do it themselves.

  • Payments and accounting
  • CRMs and supplier systems
  • Email, SMS and messaging
  • Websites, mobile apps and internal tools

Automate repetitive work

Reports, imports and admin tasks that someone does by hand every week can often run on their own.

  • Scheduled reports
  • Imports and exports
  • Documents generated from your data
  • Notifications and reminders

AI where it actually helps

Use AI where it genuinely saves staff time. I'll also tell you when it won't.

  • Summarise long documents
  • Pull data out of PDFs and forms
  • Sort and route incoming requests
  • Draft replies for staff to check

Ongoing software support

I keep your software working and improving without you hiring a full-time developer.

  • Bug fixes and small improvements
  • Updates and security patches
  • Backups and monitoring
  • Help when something breaks

Need a business website as well? I can build one, on its own or alongside a larger system. Ask me about it

Property listings and sales system

Problem
Listings were spread across Facebook posts and WhatsApp, and clients and deals were tracked in separate spreadsheets. Buyers couldn't browse everything in one place, and follow-ups were missed.
What I did
I built a public listing site in English, Lao and Chinese, plus an admin area where staff manage properties, clients, deals and areas themselves. Staff sign in with Google, and the system installs on a phone like an app.
Result
The agency runs its listings and sales pipeline from one system, including from their phones, and buyers browse properties themselves.
Technology
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • PostgreSQL
  • Prisma
  • Google sign-in
“With the platform that Max made, I can now manage my Real Estate Business from my phone and the customers can see the properties by themselves and download the app.”

Online course platform with manual payment checks

Problem
The client wanted an online course marketplace for Laos. Most course platforms assume card payments, but in Laos people usually pay by bank transfer and send a photo of the receipt.
What I did
I built separate areas for students, teachers and admins, video hosting for lessons, and a payment step where an admin checks each transfer receipt before a student gets access. The client edits marketing pages in English and Lao without a developer.
Result
A working platform built around how people in Laos actually pay, with automated tests on the payment and permission rules, where a bug would do the most damage.
Technology
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • PostgreSQL (Supabase)
  • Mux video
  • Automated tests

Demo projectDemo system based on a real client request · 2026

Delivery orders sent straight into a restaurant's POS

Problem
A client needed orders from delivery apps like Uber Eats and DoorDash to go straight into their point-of-sale system. Staff were retyping every order by hand, which is slow and causes mistakes.
What I did
I wrote the proposal and planned the integration with the order provider. I then built OrderBridge as a standalone demo of the same idea: it receives orders, converts them to the POS format, sends them on with automatic retries, and shows everything on a live dashboard.
Result
In the demo, an order reaches the POS in under a second with no manual steps. Orders that fail are flagged for a person to review instead of disappearing.
Technology
  • Node.js
  • TypeScript
  • PostgreSQL
  • Webhooks
  • OAuth 2.0

Existing software

Already have software that's causing problems?

Maybe the original developer left, the project was never finished, or every change breaks something else. I can take it over, work out what's going on, and fix it step by step.

Sound familiar?

  • The developer who built it is no longer available
  • It works, but it's slow or crashes
  • Nobody is sure how to deploy it safely
  • Small changes take weeks or break other things
  • Hosting bills keep going up
  • It was never finished

How I usually start

  1. Review

I look at the code, the hosting and how the software is used, then tell you plainly what state it's in.

  2. Stabilise

Backups, access and the most urgent problems first, so nothing gets worse.

  3. Improve

Then fixes and improvements, in order of what matters most to your business.

For software agencies

Need extra development capacity?

When your team has more client work than it can handle, I can take on part of it. I work inside your process and tools, and I'm used to picking up existing codebases.

Available for fixed pieces of work or ongoing part-time capacity. Comfortable working in English and Spanish, and across time zones from GMT+7.

Talk about a project

Work I usually take on

  • Backend development and APIs
  • Integrations with third-party services
  • Databases and data migrations
  • Laravel and PHP projects
  • AWS, servers and deployment
  • Maintenance and bug fixing
  • Taking over troubled projects

Ongoing support

Keep your software running without hiring a full-time developer

Most business software needs regular care after launch. I can look after yours on a monthly basis, whether I built it or not.

Monthly arrangements are sized to how much help you need.

About

Who you'll be working with

I'm Maximiliano Brito Torres (or just Maxon). I've been building and maintaining software for businesses since 2015, in Mexico, Thailand, China and now Laos.

I've worked as a developer for software companies and a bank in Bangkok, taught web development at universities in China and Laos, and I currently manage software projects for a technology company in Vientiane. At the same time, I take on client work directly.

When you work with me, you deal with the person doing the work. I'll explain things in plain language, no jargon, no mumbo jumbo, I will tell you honestly what I think, and keep you updated without you having to chase me.

Some of the work behind that

  • Built cloud based tools for a bank, including a face recognition applicaton (with AWS Rekognition).
  • Built APIs and sped up older PHP systems.
  • Now I plan and oversee software projects, and the developers working on them.

Technology I work with

You don't need to know what these are. They're here for the technical people on your side.

  • MySQL
  • JavaScript
